Oklahoma City, you are certainly in for a treat at the end of the month. As has been the case the last 16 of 19 years, the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship will be hosted at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City – and it was recently announced that the tournament will be held at the same location through 2020. May 25 – May 29, fans will be able to witness the top teams in the Big 12 battle it out in an effort to be named Big 12 champs, which gets them into the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, with the desired end-result being the coveted College Baseball World Series.
Every year, the top eight teams in the standings from the Big 12 conference compete for Big 12 championship glory. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the tournament, beginning on May 25, with the first game scheduled for 9 a.m. CT and, of course, ending with the Big 12 Championship game, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 29. The tournament is broken up into two-four team brackets, with the winner from each of those meeting in the big game. No team has won back-to-back Big 12 Championships since Texas A&M in 2010 and again in 2011, so we’ll see if the Longhorns are able to defend their title this year, or if we’ll have another new winner.
In addition to the tournament games, there will be plenty of other activities for attendees to do during the tournament, including a home run derby, speed pitch, and more. Many of the activities will be held before, during, and after the game. Fans can buy their tickets through ticketmaster.com at three different price tiers: $69.00 for terrace seats, with field level $99.00 and club seats available for $169.00. These prices include access to each of the games during the tournament. Additionally, group options are available for parties of 10 or more. These tickets range from $10-$15 for each individual.
