My Fridge is Warm

My Fridge is Warm

After that second (or third) winter we just had, things are finally starting to heat up. Unfortunately, so is your refrigerator which is clearly not the intent. There are a few different suggestions that we’d like to make before you pick up the phone and summon the professionals.

  1. New Installation – If you’ve recently moved or purchased a new home, please allow your refrigerator 24 hours before it’s operating at the peak temperature. Don’t try and pull one over on your fridge by turning down the cooling settings, this won’t make it cool any quicker.
  2. Cooling setting isn’t on – Double check that your fridge’s cooling setting is turned on.
  3. Doors are open too often – We get it. We like to snack too! But if you and your family are opening and closing the doors to your fridge too often, this can result in a higher temperature within your fridge.
  4. Doors don’t shut completely – This may seem obvious, but take it from us, it happens. Maybe you shut the door too hard and it incognitidly popped back open. Double check those doors when you shut them.
  5. Vents are blocked – Make sure that you’re not stacking items up in front of the air vents as this will result in a higher temperature inside of your fridge.
  6. Too much warm food – This one may seem “off the wall,” but it happens. If you’ve just added a bunch of warm food to your fridge, you can most certainly expect the temperature to go up!
  7. Controls are not set accurately – Make sure you pay attention to your surroundings and adjust your temperature controls accordingly. You can always turn the temp down, but make sure you double check in about 24 hours.

If you’ve tried all the above with no luck, make sure you double check your Use and Care Guide provided by your refrigerator’s manufacturer. If after all that you’re still having troubles keeping your refrigerator cool, you may have more complex issues going on. Rest assured, Guinco Service’s professional and experienced technicians can get the job done right. Give us a call and we’ll get you fixed up!
